Dear NEMSPA Members,

We're reaching out to you, our valued members, for your expertise and involvement in several key initiatives. Your insights are crucial as we work to advance the air medical industry and represent the pilot's voice. Please review the following requests and reach out to us at president@nemspa.org if you can assist with any of the topics below.

1. Challenges and Opportunities for HAA

We're looking to gather information on the challenges and opportunities within Helicopter Air Ambulance (HAA). We'd appreciate your opinion on the three biggest challenges facing HAA today, along with potential solutions for each. Similarly, we're interested in your perspective on the three greatest opportunities for growth and improvement in the sector.

2. Collaboration on Organ and Time-Critical Medical Item Delivery

A team of student interns from the NASA Aviation Concept Design program is developing a concept to improve the end-to-end delivery pipeline for organs and other time-critical medical items. They are eager to work with someone involved in this process. If you are involved in organ delivery or the transport of other time-critical medical items, please reach out!

3. Research Project: The Cost of Care in HAA

We've been contacted about a research project focusing on the cost of care in Air medical Transport. We're looking for members who are involved in or willing to discuss the following topics:

  • How shifting funding models, regulatory pressures, and rising aircrew and maintenance costs are shaping the future of air medical operations.

  • How the industry is reacting to these changes.

  • The No Surprises Act and its ripple effects across the industry.

If you have access to any relevant reports or insights, or are willing to discuss these topics, please contact us.

4. Join the NEMSPA Board of Directors!

NEMSPA is actively seeking passionate and dedicated pilots to join our Board of Directors! This is a unique opportunity to represent the pilot's voice and make a real difference in the air medical sector. As a board member, you'll collaborate with industry leaders and key decision-makers, advocate for NEMSPA members, and work to enhance safety for all.

If you have the time and dedication to contribute to impactful projects and lead our industry forward, we want to hear from you! If you are an active NEMSPA member interested in being considered for an open position, please complete the Board Member Candidacy Form at www.nemspa.org/involved or email any questions to info@nemspa.org.

This is your chance to help drive the direction and future of NEMSPA! Don't delay – we have a variety of roles available, so if you are interested in getting involved at any level, there's a place for you!

5. Nominate for NEMSPA Awards!

The National EMS Pilots Association is now accepting nominations for the NEMSPA EMS Pilot of the Year and the NEMSPA Lifetime Achievement Awards. Both awards will be presented at the annual Air Medical Transport Conference (AMTC) in Omaha, NE in October 2025.

Nominees should embody the best the air ambulance industry has to offer in Professionalism, Technical Expertise, Safety, and Leadership, including being involved in and contributing to the air medical and aviation industries.

To give your nominee the best chance, we highly recommend providing specific details explaining why they should be chosen. The quality of information is very important, as is the number of nominations submitted for each individual. Please encourage your friends to submit nominations in their own words as well!

Submit your nominations online at www.nemspa.org/awards.

The deadline for nominations is August 31, 2025.

Thank you for your continued support and dedication to NEMSPA and the air medical community. We look forward to hearing from you!

Sincerely,

The NEMSPA Team
